.  We would like to take a few minutes of your time to explain to you and your company what Tanglewood BMX is and what it stands for.

We are a locally operated, non-profit organization that provides a good, clean, safe sport for our youth.  We have been in operation for 19 years locally.  We provide a place for our youth to race bicycles in a designated area and compete with other riders of the same age and proficiency.  We promote safety, fun, and competition, in that order.  All riders must have proper apparel and safety equipment at all times on the track.  The race consists of 6 or less riders at the top of the “starting hill” on a gate.  They will start at the same time and travel around a 1,100-foot track going around tall turns and over hills and rollers.  Each rider does this a minimum of three (3) times during a race.  These races are called “Motos”.  Points are tallied based on the overall finishes in the “motos”, and trophies are awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers.  Riders who place 4th-6th are awarded medals.  We average about 50-70 trophies per race.  It’s very impressive to see these riders from as early as the age of 3 to the age of 60 traverse this track!  We normally will average around 80 riders per race night.  On some occasions, we’ve seen as many as 120 and fully expect to see a growth in the 2006 season.  We race just about every Saturday night from the beginning of April, (before if it gets nice earlier), to the middle of November.  This entire operation is run by parent volunteers, and is sanctioned by the NBL (National Bicycle League).  We are classified as a National BMX Olympic Training Facility for riders wishing to compete at higher than local levels. (State, Regional, National, or Global.)  We also have sponsored at least one National Level race every year, for the past 19 years.  We have an average of 650-800 riders during this event.  This brings in approximately 3000 people for the weekend!  This year’s “Tarheel National” is scheduled for May 27-28, 2006.  We are also pleased that the NBL is a member of the U.S.A. Cycling Association.  This will allow BMX competition in the Olympics!

We charge a nominal fee for racing so that we keep our costs down.  Because of this, we depend heavily on sponsorship from local, regional or national businesses to help offset our expenses and keep this worthwhile program running.  Since we are a National BMX Olympic Training Facility, we have been able to obtain out 501/ c3 non-profit designation from the IRS.  This allows 100% tax credit to anyone that makes contributions to our organization.  Without your support we would not be able to provide this type of sport for our youth.  We hope that you will give this some very careful consideration.  Please look over the sponsorship programs by clickint the link below.  You may feel free to contact track President, Sandy Coleman, @ (336) 284-2580 (home), (336) 403-3025 (mobile), or TarheelBMX@aol.com.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
